About this event

Our Captains of Industry Talks is a series of online Talks where graduates and students will hear from a range of inspirational industry leaders. They are an opportunity to hear first-hand from experts in their field regarding their career journey, lessons learned, and the impacts of COVID-19 on their sector.

Next in our series is CEO of Stemettes and GCU honorary graduate, Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon on Thursday 25th February at 4pm (UK time).

Anne-Marie is a keynote speaker, presenter and co-founder of Stemettes, the award-winning social enterprise inspiring the next generation of women into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) roles. She is the youngest girl ever to pass A-level Computing, and one of the youngest to be awarded a Master’s degree in Mathematics & Computer Science by the University of Oxford at the age of 20. Anne-Marie received an MBE in 2017 for services to young women and STEM sectors, and in 2020 was voted the most influential woman in tech in the UK by Computer Weekly.

Anne-Marie will talk through her career journey, sharing insights and advice she has learned along the way, as well as discussing how COVID-19 has impacted STEM sectors and what challenges and opportunities she sees happening in the short and long term as a result.

The Talk will be followed by a Q&A. You can submit your question(s) in advance or via the raise hand / chat functionality on the day.

Details on how to join this live event will be sent to those registered 48 hours prior to the event starting.
